A primary SEN unit in Kennington, close to Brixton, is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism in their specialist ASD base. This is a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about SEN support and wants to gain valuable hands-on experience in a structured and supportive environment. Graduate Teaching Assistants with a background in Psychology or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Role Overview:
Work 1:1 and in small groups with children diagnosed with Autism.
Support pupils in their academic, social, and emotional development.
Implement structured routines and sensory strategies to aid learning.
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans.
Help create a calm and engaging learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or within an Autism-related role.
A Psychology graduate or someone with a passion for child development and SEN support.
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication techniques is beneficial.
A patient, caring, and resilient approach to working with children with ASD.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply via Reeson Education.
