MDE Group are supporting a renewable energy developer and builder recruit for a senior project manager as their pipeline continues to expand. Their expertise lies in delivering large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects that contribute to the UK's transition to cleaner energy. The Ideal Candidate is an experienced and results-driven Senior Solar Project Manager with experience leading the delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-orientated, and skilled at managing complex projects while collaborating effectively with stakeholders. A proven track record in delivering large-scale solar and energy storage projects is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of large-scale solar and energy storage projects, from RTB to commissioning.
- Work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee grid connection processes, including liaising with National Grid and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
- Plan and coordinate logistics and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Lead contractor selection, manage EPC contracts, and supervise on-site construction activities.
- Track and manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and report to project finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including CDM 2015 and ISO 14001.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in managing utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects, ideally 50 MW or more.
- Familiarity with grid connection agreements and processes such as G99, TEC, etc.
- Strong skills in logistics and resource planning for large-scale projects.
- Experience in EPC and contractor management with hands-on construction oversight.
- Financial expertise in managing large CAPEX budgets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in the renewable energy sector.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
