SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in small groups (6-8 learners), encouraging positive behaviours and academic progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Work with students from 4-19 years old, helping them develop essential skills and self-regulation.
  • Assist with managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive and creative approaches.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.
  • Encourage students to engage fully in their learning, promoting emotional resilience and social development.

About You:

  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive individual with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH or similar needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students and promote positive learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively to create a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • A commitment to supporting students in overcoming personal challenges and achieving their goals.
