Job Title: Housing Disrepair Fee EarnerLocation: Manchester City CentreHours: Full TimeSalary: £32,000 - £45,000 DOEAbout the Firm:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join a reputable and dynamic law firm based in the heart of Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled fee earner with strong technical knowledge of housing law and litigation to join a thriving team. The firm offers a supportive and professional working environment, with plenty of opportunities for progression and growth.You will manage your own caseload of housing disrepair claims, helping tenants secure justice for poor living conditions caused by landlord neglect. If you're passionate about housing law and making a real difference to people's lives, this role could be perfect for you!Job Role:

  • Manage a caseload of housing disrepair cases from start to finish (80-100 files)
  • Handle client matters, providing consistent updates from the initial enquiry to the completion of their case
  • Liaise with and instruct experts and counsel where required
  • Work with disrepair surveyors, housing associations, and providers, including city councils
  • Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the department
  • Deliver excellent client service, demonstrating empathy, particularly for vulnerable and distressed clients
  • Maintain excellent time management and communication, both internally and externally

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year's experience handling litigated caseloads in housing disrepair claims
  • Strong technical knowledge of housing law and its application in complex cases
  • Proven experience in managing pre-litigation and litigation work
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Experience in managing a high caseload and meeting fee-earning targets
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational skills
  • Ideally, experience with case management systems
  • Proactive, results-driven attitude with the ability to handle challenging cases effectively
