Social Worker - Safeguarding, Care Planning and Children with Disabilities Team

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Safeguarding, Care Planning and Children with Disabilities Team. The role involves working with families where children are in need and those who require protection, supporting them to make necessary changes to ensure their children are safe and their needs are met. This may involve using the Public Law Outline (PLO) and, if necessary, working within Care proceedings when children are at risk of significant harm.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Engage with families to assess and identify children in need and at risk.
  • Develop and implement care plans that prioritise the safety and well-being of children.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to deliver a coordinated approach to child protection.
  • Support families in making sustainable changes to improve their children’s lives.
  • Utilise the Public Law Outline (PLO) as a framework for action when children are at risk of significant harm.
  • Participate in Care proceedings as required, advocating for the best interests of the child.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records in line with legal and organisational requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A recognised qualification in social work and registration with the relevant social work body.
  • Experience in child protection, care planning, and working with children with disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of the Public Law Outline (PLO) and Care proceedings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to assess risks and needs, and to plan and implement effective interventions.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
