I am currently seeking a highly skilled and committed Principal Structural Engineer to join a leading Structural Engineering consultancy based in Cheshire. This firm specialises in Extreme Loads and Blast Engineering and is recognised as a leader in the field. Their project portfolio includes the design of prestigious developments both in the UK and internationally, focusing on managing extreme load events.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE) or equivalent experience to pass the professional chartered review
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to collaborate with clients and project teams to devise innovative solutions for complex challenges
  • In-depth knowledge of steel and concrete design in accordance with Eurocodes or UFC 3-340-02
  • Experience managing the commercial aspects of project delivery
  • Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach
  • Willingness to undergo UK security vetting (SC level or higher)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with clients to define project requirements, shape project outcomes, and deliver tailored solutions
  • Collaborate with design teams to develop protective design strategies
  • Take responsibility for design aspects, including developing specifications, ensuring compliance, and performing site visits
  • Support Tier 1, 2, and 3 contractors to ensure the project is constructed in line with specifications
  • Partner with manufacturers to develop new product designs
  • Manage project workloads to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards
  • Oversee and carry out detailed structural calculations, utilizing hand calculations, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics
  • Conduct vehicle dynamics assessments for hostile vehicle mitigation designs
  • Lead and mentor a team of graduate, project, and senior engineers
  • Contribute to the senior management team
