An outstanding secondary school in Preston is seeking a dedicated British Sign Language Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role requires an immediate start and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' educational experiences.Your new roleAs a BSL Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting deaf pupils to access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Using British Sign Language to facilitate communication between pupils, staff, and peers.
  • Supporting students in small groups and 1:1 settings, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Promoting independence and self-confidence in deaf learners.
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons alongside class teachers.
  • Encouraging a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

What you'll need to succeedIdeally, you will have a recognised qualification in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2, Level 3+ preferred). If not, previous experience working with deaf children or young people is essential.
