Your Role - Making an Impact
As the ER Manager, you will:

  • Lead the Employee Relations Team: Oversee Senior ER Advisors, ensuring consistent, high-quality ER services that promote informal resolutions and restorative approaches.
  • Drive Strategic Employee Relations: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement proactive ER strategies that enhance workplace culture and minimise conflict.
  • Manage Complex Cases: Personally handle high-level cases, providing expert guidance and support to managers on sensitive ER issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and employment tribunals.
  • Build Managerial Capacity: Develop and deliver training programs to empower line managers, enabling them to manage people issues confidently and effectively.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Monitor ER trends, produce insightful KPI reports, and recommend strategic interventions to improve staff experiences and organisational outcomes.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Lead the creation and revision of employment policies, ensuring they reflect best practices and are communicated clearly across the organisation.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Work closely with senior leadership, trade unions, and external legal partners to ensure robust ER practices and positive employee relations.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Expertise and Experience: Experience in Employee Relations within a large, complex, unionised organisation.
  • Leadership and Strategic Thinking: Experience of leading teams, managing complex investigations, and driving strategic change.
  • Professional Qualifications: CIPD qualified with a thorough understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and ACAS guidelines.
  • Influential Communicator: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Innovative and Resilient: A proactive, adaptable, and compassionate approach with the ability to inspire and lead by example in challenging situations.
