Project Controller (Baseline Management)

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Location: Hybrid with 2-3 days per week in Warrington

Rate: £180-£270 per day – inside IR35 - DOE.

2 roles available - one senior, one junior. 

We are seeking a Project Controller with a focus on Baseline Management to support the delivery of Core Services within our client’s PMO team. This role is crucial in underpinning the overall PMO service offering and providing core support to the wholesale business.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Responsible for the project creation process and delivery route allocation for new projects, as well as the liaising with the Centres of Excellence and coordinating their inputs into the funding envelope and baselines.
  • Support the delivery of baseline and project creation processes in alignment with the company’s vision and values.
  • Lead on the process of setting the Performance Management Baseline (PMB) for new projects. Engage with the Functional Leads (Planning, Cost, Project Controls, Engineering) in order to capture all aspects of the PMB (scope, schedule, budget, risk) against the appropriate Project structures (WBS/OBS/RBS/CBS).
  • Collaborate with Finance to contribute to the setting of projects’ funding envelopes.
  • Create projects in company systems and allocate project delivery routes post-approval.
  • Provide support to project teams during the transition from funding envelope stage to project initiation.
  • Contribute to the PMO’s continuous improvement agenda by identifying task-level enhancements to boost overall Programme performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong experience in Project Controls / Programme Delivery.
  • Technical proficiency with baseline build systems (Primavera P6 and others).
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective relationship management.
  • Experience in delivering core services to a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and ensure data integrity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the capability to conduct in-depth analyses.
  • Clear and simple presentation of facts.
  • Collaborative approach to planning and strategy development.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with adaptability to change.
  • Recognised PM/ Project controls qualification is desirable.
  • Experience in the Utilities sector is advantageous.
